Newly redesigned for 2019, the Subaru Forester is a truly stunning small SUV. With lots of space, remarkable safety, and the go-anywhere spirit that Subaru is known for, it's more than a match for competitors like the 2019 Chevy Equinox.

At Byers Airport Subaru, we want you to have all the information you need to choose the small SUV that's just right for you. That's why we've put this page together as one of our many comparison pages. Once you've seen what the Subaru Forester can offer, come take one for a spin at Byers Airport Subaru.

Subaru Forester vs Chevy Equinox: Interior

Though the Subaru Forester is technically a small SUV, it certainly doesn't feel like one. Its spacious interior has 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, giving you and your passengers room to spread out. In fact, it's one of the largest SUVs in the segment. This becomes obvious when you compare it to the 2019 Chevy Equinox, which has just 103.2 cubic feet of passenger space.

Packing some cargo for a trip? The 2019 Subaru Forester has more cargo capacity than the Chevy Equinox, as well--both when the rear seats are all in place and when they're folded down. Choosing Subaru means that you'll simply get more room.

Subaru Forester vs Chevy Equinox: Technology

The 2019 Subaru Forester has a level of technological refinement that simply isn't found in the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. Satellite radio comes standard in the Subaru Forester, but you have to upgrade to get it in the Chevy Equinox. In addition, the Subaru Forester lets you upgrade to a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system; a seven-speaker system is the best you can get in the Chevy Equinox.

Subaru Forester vs Chevy Equinox: Performance

The Subaru Forester manages to be more powerful than the Chevy Equinox, while also getting better gas mileage. The flat SUBARU BOXER® engine in the Forester generates 182 horsepower, while also creating a smooth, balanced drive. The Chevy Equinox comes with a standard engine that generates 170 horsepower, while still getting fewer miles per gallon than the Subaru Forester.

The Forester also excels when it comes to off-road adventures, thanks to the standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. While you can get an AWD Chevy Equinox, it will cost you even more to upgrade.

Subaru Forester vs Chevy Equinox: Safety

The standard AWD system does more than just make the Subaru Forester ready for handling dirt roads and little-known trails: it also makes it safer to drive. The extra traction from the AWD system means that you'll be better able to handle wet or snowy streets.

The dedication to safety Subaru has shown is hard to overstate, and industry experts have taken notice. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2019 Subaru Forester its prestigious 2019 Top Safety Pick+ award. The 2019 Chevrolet Equinox received no awards at all from the IIHS.

Subaru Forester vs Chevy Equinox: Driver Assist Technology

Further proving its dedication to safety, Subaru has equipped every 2019 Forester with EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which combines Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a Pre-collision Braking System. Similar features are available in the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, but you'll have to pay more to get them. What's more, they're completely unavailable in the entry-level model!

The 2019 Subaru Forester also has an available feature you won't find on any 2019 Chevy Equinox: LED Steering Responsive Headlights. These headlights make it easier for you to see at night when you turn corners, further increasing your peace of mind.
