2021 Subaru Forester vs 2021 GMC Terrain: Design & Utility

Since these two SUVs are similar in size, it's no wonder they share some other features. Both the Forester and the Terrain come with standard seventeen-inch wheels, and available power liftgates but only the Forester offers a standard power moonroof on all trim levels but the base model. You would have to pay more to get this feature on the Terrain as it's only optionally available on the highest trim levels. The Terrain boasts a ground clearance of 6.9 inches but the Forester delivers an 8.7-inch ground clearance so you have better visibility and more capability on uneven or unpaved surfaces.

When it comes to space, the 2021 Forester is the unmistakable winner. It has more shoulder room and headroom than the 2021 Terrain and it offers a vast 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume versus the 103.2 cubic feet in the GMC. Cargo is no problem in the Forester, with eleven more cubic feet of max storage space than the Terrain. And for extra cargo room, the Forester has standard roof rails on every model but the entry-level while you have to pay extra for them on the Terrain.

2021 Subaru Forester vs 2021 GMC Terrain: Comfort & Convenience

Not only does the 2021 Forester offer more space, it delivers more comfort as well. From the available ten-way power-adjustable driver's seat to a standard automatic climate control, the Forester will keep everyone riding in contentment. The Terrain only offers an available eight-way power driver's seat. While they both offer leather-trimmed upholstery on the higher trim levels, only the Forester delivers higher trim standard features such as heated front and rear outboard seats and a heated steering wheel. The Terrain offers heated front seats for more money as an available option but heated rear seats aren't on the table at all.

When it comes to connectivity, both SUVs offer standard infotainment systems that include Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability all controlled on an intuitive touchscreen. Both the Forester and the Terrain offer an eight inch display on the higher trim levels, however navigation comes standard on the Forester Touring model but if you want this amenity on the Terrain you have to pay extra.
