Subaru Impreza & Subaru BRZ: Design & General Impressions

Though they're both high-quality Subaru cars, the Impreza and the BRZ are very different. The Subaru Impreza is a capable small sedan, and this is reflected in its design. It's slick and attractive without being ostentatious, and it has standard features like 16" steel wheels. The Subaru BRZ, on the other hand, is a sports coupe that's ready for fun, and it looks the part! With its 17" alloy wheels, standard rear spoiler, and standard LED headlights, it cuts a striking figure.

Subaru Impreza & Subaru BRZ: Interior Space & Comfort

For a sports coupe, the Subaru BRZ is impressively spacious. It can seat up to four people in its 76.5 cubic feet of passenger volume, and it has a trunk with nearly 7 cubic feet of space. But if you're looking for a car to drive the family around, the Subaru Impreza offers more space. It can seat up to five, and it has 99.8 cubic feet of passenger volume and a 12.3-cubic-foot trunk.

Despite these differences, both Subaru models offer features like a standard STARLINK® Multimedia system, available leather-trimmed upholstery, and available heated front seats.

Subaru Impreza & Subaru BRZ: Performance

When it comes to performance, these vehicles are incredibly different. The 2019 Subaru Impreza is equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for extra traction, and its BOXER® engine generates 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The 2019 Subaru BRZ, on the other hand, is the only Subaru model without this AWD system. It's a rear-wheel drive sports car, making it more track-friendly. It's also powered by a BOXER® engine, but this one generates up to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Its 2,789-pound curb weight makes this power go even further.

In addition, the Subaru BRZ has extra track-friendly features that the Subaru Impreza lacks. Its sport-tuned suspension and ultra-quick 13.1:1 steering ratio provide responsive handling, and its standard 6-speed fully synchronized close-ratio manual transmission has a short-throw shifter, perfect for precise gear control.

Subaru Impreza & Subaru BRZ: Driver Assist Technology

Like most sports cars, the Subaru BRZ lacks any driver assist technology. Though it comes with plenty of quality safety features, driver assistance isn't something you'll generally find on cars meant for the track. The 2019 Subaru Impreza, on the other hand, has available adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure and sway warning, and pre-collision braking features through the EyeSight® system.
