Recommended Maintenance for Your Subaru at 120,000 Miles
Your Subaru has taken you all over Columbus- and maybe even further! All that experience on the road can take its toll on any vehicle; however, as long as you keep with Subaru recommended service schedule, you should be able to keep your Subaru on the road for a long time to come. This means that when your odometer hits that 120,000 mile mark, it’s time for you to schedule another major maintenance service.
120,000 Marks Several Milestone for Your Subaru
If you’ve been following the Subaru recommended maintenance schedule, then you’ll recognize that every 30,000 miles marks a suggested major service of your vehicle. However, there are other intervals of mileage that suggest servicing not included in the 30,000 or 90,000 mile services. While simple services like oil changes and tire rotations are recommended for every 6,000 miles driven, there are several other inspections and procedures that are recommended at every 12,000 or 24,000 miles. These services don’t fully align with the 30,000 or 90,000 intervals, but they do with the 60,000 and 120,000 intervals. This alignment makes the 120,000 major servicing all the more valuable as it gives an even more comprehensive evaluation of the vehicle as it starts to age and wear over time and experience.
A Comprehensive Service
As previously mentioned, the 120,000 service is important in ensuring your Subaru stays running in peak condition as the miles and years begin to add up. Because of this, the 120,000 service is extensive and detailed, as certified technicians:
- Replace the spark plugs
- Inspect the clutch operation
- Inspect the rear differential fluid (For Subaru BRZs Only)
- Replace the air filter
- Inspect the brake lines, parking brake, and service brake systems
- Inspect the steering systems
- Inspect the suspension
- Inspect the drive belts
- Inspect the fuel systems, lines, and connections
- Replace the air cleaner element
- Inspect the cooling systems, hoses, and connections
- Inspect the transmission gear oil (Excluding Subaru BRZs)
- Inspect the front and rear differential fluid (Excluding Subaru BRZs)
- Change the brake fluid and (if applicable) the clutch fluid
- Change the Oil
- Rotate the tires
