What an incredible day giving back 💙 Through Subaru Loves to Help, our goal was to help over 300 kids by giving away more than 150 coats, along with sets of shoes and socks to families in our community. Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Columbus, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Byers Airport Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Byers Airport Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

When you start something like The LunchBox Ohio—a grassroots nonprofit born out of a simple belief that no child should go hungry—you hope for community support. But what Subaru gave us was more than support. It was partnership. It was belief. It was love in action. Last year, Byers Subaru chose The LunchBox Ohio as their local nonprofit to support through the Subaru Share the Love event. That choice made an incredible difference. With their help, we were able to expand our outreach and feed nearly 3,300 kids across Columbus—900 more than the summer before. Subaru’s support didn’t just help us deliver lunches, it helped us reach more neighborhoods, build stronger connections with families, and remind kids that they matter. That someone sees them, that someone cares. As the founder and director of The LunchBox Ohio, I’ve always believed in the power of community. Subaru showed us what that power looks like when it’s backed by action, commitment, and heart. Because of Subaru, more kids ate lunch last summer. More kids smiled. More kids felt full, safe, and seen. That’s the Love Promise—and we are so grateful to be part of it.

I have been working with the staff at Byers Airport Subaru for the past seven years. We have a wonderful educational partnership with them and I have enjoyed working with them in various aspects. Last week during Teacher Appreciation Week Jordan Byers and several of the employees visited and brought breakfast to us. What a special treat for all of our staff! Byers has done so many things to support our teachers - providing school supplies, adopting classrooms, bringing treats and meals. I love working with them and helping to manage this partnership and I am honored to write this article to express my gratitude for how they support us. Thank you, Byers Subaru, for all you do for the staff and students of Beechwood Elementary School!

Imagine being a parent of a child who cannot afford to purchase a winter coat. Many families across the country are having to choose between purchasing rent, food, medical needs and clothing - including right here in Columbus, Ohio- this is a heartbreaking reality. At The Salvation Army of Central Ohio, we are committed to meeting human needs in our community. That is why, we teamed up with Byers Airport Subaru and Operation Warm to provide 500 coats to families in Columbus, Ohio. These coats allowed children to go play outside in the winter and go to school safely while allowing parents to use their resources for food and bills. Children from all over Franklin County were able to pick a brand-new coat. Children left with smiles and appreciation of their new coat. These coats provided confidence to children and improved their self-image. Parents had dignity and hope restored as they embraced friendly faces from Byers Airport Subaru and The Salvation Army. These coats created hope for a better tomorrow for each child, parent and family we assisted through this amazing partnership.

In Columbus, Ohio many children rely on school lunches as their only meal of the day, so in the summertime these children go hungry. Our mission at the LunchBox Ohio is to not only reach those children in their neighborhoods, but provide them with fresh, delicious, and nutritious lunches. This past 2023 Share the Love Event, Byers Subaru partnered with the nonprofit The LunchBox Ohio and raised almost $34,000! Due to this incredibly generous donation, we are able to expand our reach and feed even more hungry kids this summer. Their contribution helped us with much needed maintenance on our delivery truck and provided us with the necessary funding to increase our meal service. We have been able to increase our lunches to 300 more children, totaling over 3,000 lunches this summer to hungry kids in need!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is so excited to have partnered again this year with Byers Airport Subaru to donate blankets, patient care kits, and messages of hope to the patients at The James Cancer Center. We are always so grateful to work with this team who shares our commitment to offer care and compassion to cancer patients and their families. During a challenging time in their lives, these blankets provide a wonderful sense of comfort for patients. The nursing team at The James is always so excited to receive this donation. They see firsthand how much it means to the patients and families that they serve! They were especially excited about the blankets being in a heart shape this year! Thank you again to the Byers Airport Subaru team for working with LLS year after year to make this donation. It is always so great to be a part of this delivery and to work with such a wonderful Subaru team!

A few weeks ago, a customer shared a local news story about the Evans family, who have been supporting their 1-year-old son, Shaun, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital while he waits for a heart transplant. The family moved from Cleveland, leaving most of their belongings behind, and have been living at the Ronald McDonald House next to the hospital for the past five months. A recent car accident left them without reliable transportation, forcing them to use expensive ride-share services for work and vital appointments. When Byers Airport Subaru learned about their situation, we immediately took action to help. We donated a Subaru to the Evans family, aiming to reduce their stress so they can focus on Shaun’s care. Our technician, Skyler, volunteered 9.5 hours of labor to work on the car, and our parts department waived all markups. Additionally, Thomas, our Assistant Service Manager, coordinated touch-ups with vendors and the body shop at no cost. George Huesman, our Sales Manager, arranged for the store to cover the car's cost. This project united all our departments in a collective effort we are immensely proud of! We are thrilled to share that Shaun is now close on the list to receive a new heart. Everyone at Byers Airport Subaru is eagerly looking forward to seeing him become a healthy child with a healthy heart! https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/timely-donation-needed-as-family-awaits-heart-for-1-year-old-son-central-columbus-ohio-may-2024 https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/ohio-family-waiting-on-new-heart-son-gifted-car-after-crash-leaves-theirs-totaled/530-8104c9bf-cac4-4bfc-992f-1008093dbd07

A heartfelt delivery for a family in need of a smile and good news. Since January, the Evans family has called central Ohio home. The family has been living at the Ronald McDonald House as their 1-year old son Shaun receives treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital. The family moved from Cleveland into a Ronald McDonald House next to Nationwide Children's Hospital where Shaun is getting care. The crash happened a few weeks ago and since then, Michelle was having to take an Uber back and forth to her new job. Byer's Automotive heard about her story and donated a Subaru Forester to the family. "We are just overwhelmed and overjoyed. Just really appreciative and ultimately thankful," Rayshaun said. "It's been a long road. Just to know that people are out there that care means just so much to us." Rayshaun and Michelle say Shaun is doing well. They say he's laughing and walking a lot more than he used to. He's also enjoying his therapy sessions. The family says they are in good spirits and they are looking forward to the day when Shaun can get a new heart and they can go home. The Evans family said when their son Shaun was 6 months old, they noticed he was getting sick a lot. I am the secretary at Beechwood Elementary School in Whitehall. We have had a great educational partnership with Byers Airport Subaru for a number of years. They have done some wonderful things for our teachers and staff. During Teacher Appreciation Week several of the staff from Byers came to our school and brought breakfast treats and gifts for our teachers. Thank you, Jordan Byers, for arranging for this special celebration for our teachers. We appreciate all you do for our students and staff.

Living in New York City, Professor Jin didn't have the need for a car or driver's license. However, when a new opportunity led her to Columbus, Ohio, the smaller college town demanded a different mode of transportation. Enter Brad, an amazing Subaru consultant with a heart of gold. Prior to facing the challenge of obtaining her driver's license, Jin started the on line buying process and eventually took an Uber to the dealership to purchase a new Subaru. After getting to know Jin and her situation, Brad not only sold her a Forester, but took it upon himself to be her driving mentor. Little did she know, this transaction would turn into a unique friendship. With no license and minimal driving skills, Jin found herself navigating parking lots and side streets under Brad's patient guidance. They practiced maneuverability, parallel parking, and the intricacies of the road in a vacant lot across the street from the dealership. When the day of the driving test arrived, Jin asked Brad if he would go with her to the driving exam. Nervous but determined, she approached the test with Brad's teachings echoing in her mind. Jin passed her driving test . Grateful for his guidance, she now not only had a license but a friend (and sales consultant) who went above and beyond to help her achieve this chapter in her life. Brad, equally delighted, celebrated the success, knowing he had played an important role in transforming a non-driver into a licensed road adventurer for her new Subaru Forester.

Byers Airport Subaru has been a great partner and supporter of our dog and cat rescue. We always look forward to the October Wag-O-Ween adoption event and this year was the best one yet! On October 28th our Assistant Director with the help of 9 volunteers brought our adoptable dogs to the dealership on Hamilton Rd. The event helped 4 of the 8 dogs get adopted! Two couples came as a result of our event posted on social media, and another couple who did not end up adopting, came because they received an email about the event from Byers Subaru since they had recently purchased a car there. Duchess, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful were all adopted, while Hugo, Rico Suave, Joey B, and Didi are still available. Everyone had a great time taking pictures, voting on the pumpkin decorating contest, eating the food provided by Byers, and of course playing with the dogs in attendance. We hope to see everyone again next year with a fresh crop of dog looking for their forever homes!

The team at Byers Airport Subaru has been extremely supportive of the 911 Emergency Communications Center. This past April Byers graciously donated meals for the Dispatchers, Call Takers, and Supervisors to enjoy as they work to keep the community safe. We are forever grateful for the generosity of the Byers organization and the joy they bring to our staff.

Whitehall Parks and Recreation was excited to work with community partners last month to beautify our parks! The Byers Auto Group team joined a number of other volunteers to spruce up the expansive flower beds around the Whitehall Community Park YMCA. Throughout the park, volunteers could be found mulching flowerbeds, spreading tons and literal tons of playground mulch, and reseeding the 6+ acre wildflower meadow. Over the past several years, Whitehall Community Park has become the shining natural gemstone of the Whitehall area. Restoration, habitat expansion, water quality, canoe access, trail improvements, play area expansions, and the renovation and expansion of the activity center into the Community Park YMCA have brought much revitalization to this park. The amazing partnership with Byers Auto Group has helped the Parks Team to maximize efforts and expand the park's impact and offerings.

Beechwood Elementary staff and students have been involved in a recycling project with Byers Subaru for over two years. We have been saving K-cups, drink cups, straws, snack wrappers, etc. in special green recycling containers. This has all been part of the Subaru Loves The Earth® Recycling Program. When our recycling boxes are filled, they are sent to TerraCycle® in New Jersey where they are processed and turned into usable items. On Thursday, May 4, Beechwood received a picnic table from Byers Airport Subaru for their participation in this project. We had a very special dedication ceremony with our students and staff involved. It was such an exciting day! We are so grateful to Lindsey Tinsley and the team at Byers Subaru for this amazing gift! Thank you, Subaru!

In an extraordinary display of community spirit, Byers Airport Subaru recently partnered with us to make a profound difference in the life of Terry, a Marine Corps veteran and unfortunate victim of a racially motivated attack. Terry's life took an unexpected turn when a trip to the store resulted in a terrifying confrontation with a knife-wielding man who not only hurled racial slurs but also drove his vehicle towards Terry, hitting and destroying his scooter. This left Terry with multiple physical injuries and without his primary mode of transportation. The distressing incident moved Officers Jeremy Smith, an Army veteran himself, and Amanda Hoover from the Columbus Division of Police, who were eager to lend a helping hand. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, they reached out to us at Starfish Assignment in their quest to provide much-needed assistance. In this moment, we were able to turn to the compassionate team at Byers Airport Subaru. Their generous gift of a brand-new scooter to replace Terry's previous three-wheel model, which was prone to tipping over, was more than a donation—it was a lifeline. Now, Terry proudly owns a state-of-the-art, four-wheel model that offers enhanced stability and safety, ensuring he can return to the road with a safer and more reliable mode of transportation. Terry couldn't hold back his tears as he expressed how significant this gift was to him, explaining that without it, he was virtually confined to his home. This act of kindness from Byers Airport Subaru transcends the donation of a new scooter—it signifies the restoration of Terry's independence and dignity, both of which were severely impacted by the traumatic incident. It underscores the remarkable difference we can make when we come together in times of need. As Terry navigates his neighborhood on his new scooter, he carries with him a symbol of community solidarity and compassion, an enduring reminder of the generosity and care of his friends at Columbus Police and Byers Airport Subaru. His story stands as a shining beacon of hope, illustrating the power of a single act of kindness. We at Starfish Assignment are deeply grateful to Byers Airport Subaru for their continued support, and we know Terry shares this sentiment. The freedom and autonomy that he now enjoys are a testament to their community involvement and commitment to making a difference.

In February of 2022, the Columbus Division of Police, through the Columbus Police Foundation, hosted our first ever Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance in which we went to a local senior home and served the residents dinner. After dinner, police personnel interacted with the residents and danced with them. The event in 2022 was a great success, however, we strived to make it even better and include more seniors. The result was a 2023 Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance in which we hosted senior residents from three local homes. This large scale event could not have been possible without the partnership we had with Byers Airport Subaru through their Love Promise®. Beyond a financial donation to help make the event successful, Byers Airport Subaru personnel provided transportation to residents from one of the senior homes, and also volunteered their time in assisting the police with serving dinner. The event was extremely successful thanks to the personnel at Byers Airport Subaru.

Beechwood Elementary School is fortunate to have a wonderful partnership with Byers Airport Subaru. They have supported our teachers in so many ways. This past Friday, February 17, was Random Acts of Kindness Day and they brought treats for our staff to show appreciation for what we do for our kids. We are so grateful for the support that we receive from Byers. Lindsey Tinsley is wonderful to work with and we are looking forward to working with her and the staff at Byers in the future.

“The Franklin County Sheriff's Office runs a free weeklong school for law enforcement agencies wanting to start a therapy dog program in their communities. These dogs are used in various assignments including community outreach, victim advocacy, and officer wellness. For the past several years, Byers Airport Subaru has partnered with us to provide food to the students during the week. We greatly appreciate their generosity and would like to give a shout-out to Marketing Director Lindsey Tinsley who has always went out of her way to make sure our needs were met. Thanks guys!”

On October 15th, 2022 Byers Airport Subaru hosted an adoption and microchipping event to support the foster program for local rescue Columbus Dog Connection. While only four of our eight adoptable dogs were able to be present, we were able to get all four adopted! Betty is our senior girl who met with a previous adopter at the event. Betty had multiple mammary masses removed and a dental cleaning with multiple dental extractions done prior to her adoption. She was an owner surrender and the previous owner had never taken her to the vet before. Brice is a young pup that we saved from starvation in September. He was living on the railroad tracks and wouldn't let anyone close enough to him to take him home. The two women who emailed Columbus Dog Connection asking for help both came to Byers Subaru Airport for our Subaru Loves Pets event to meet him. He also had his new family come for a first meeting at the event and it was love at first sight! While Rhett and Marshall's new adoptive families did not come to the event, the pictures from the event helped them get noticed. We appreciate all the love and support we receive from the Byers Airport Subaru family!

I am the Secretary at Beechwood Elementary School in Whitehall, Ohio. I am writing to let you know how much we appreciate and value the partnership that our school has had with Byers Airport Subaru for the past few years. With the Subaru Loves Learning program, they have provided our teachers with STEM books and classroom supplies. As part of Subaru Loves Learning in conjunction with the Adopt-a-Classroom initiative, they have awarded our teachers money for classroom resources. They have also been a source of encouragement to our staff with little things like a school bus full of thank you notes for teachers and an unexpected Friday Surprise of snacks and treats! Our students and staff have also been involved in the Subaru Loves the Earth Recycling Project since last Spring. We returned four filled boxes before the end of the last school year. This year we have continued the project and we recently gave eight filled boxes to Byers to send off to TerraCycle in New Jersey. Our students are very excited that we will be receiving a picnic table in the spring and even more excited that they had a part in the whole process! We absolutely love working with Lindsey Tinsley and the Byers Airport Subaru team. We look forward to our continuing partnership.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is so grateful for Byers Airport Subaru to partner with us again this year to deliver blankets and art kits to The James. Our goal is to one day live in a world without blood cancers. While we continue to make strides toward achieving this goal, our mission is to ensure that patients and their families are comfortable and have the resources they need to help them along their cancer journey. In June, we were able to visit The James where we met with a huge group of nurses and doctors from the oncology unit as we delivered the blankets and art kits to them. They were so grateful for the donation that would go to the many patients that they treat there every day. Thank you so much to Michelle and her team at The James for being there to accept this donation. Whether it is a blood cancer diagnosis they are facing or another diagnosis, we want patients and their families to feel some sense of care and comfort during their stay at the hospital. Byers Airport Subaru is helping us to do just that with their generous donation of blankets and art kits. By supplying this donation, they are providing warmth and comfort to patients through a very difficult time in their life. We are so grateful to have worked with a team like this who is passionate about helping others and can help The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society achieve their mission. Thank you so much to Lindsey, Andrew, Austin and the rest of the Byers Airport Subaru Team for your donation and for your care to the patients at The James.

On Friday, November 5th Byers Airport Subaru had the privilege of participating in the Therapy dog program graduation. Pups and handlers from all over the United States and Canada traveled to Columbus, Ohio to be trained by our local Sheriff's Department for the week. Byers Airport Subaru team members provided a catered lunch and got to learn more about how important therapy dogs are for our schools, court houses and police departments. This program provides a much need asset to our community and we look forward to engaging in larger ways in the future.

Thanks to donations and volunteer work from Byers Airport Subaru, Starfish Assignment was able to host a series of five block parties in partnership with Columbus Division of Police in five underserved areas of Columbus. We were able to come together with games, food, sports, dancing, and a very popular dunk tank. None of this would have been possible without Byers Airport Subaru, as they were with us every step of the way, from project inception through cleanup, and we're so grateful to them for the smiles they put on the faces of neighbors and officers alike. Event while they we were still at the event, people were asking us to come back next year. What a great time! Thank you, Byers Airport Subaru!

This past month our Byers Airport Subaru team had a great time collecting bicycles for the Columbus chapter of Starfish Assignment. This amazing organization works with local police departments to help identify areas of need in the communities they live and serve in. Specializing in micro-actions, small efforts lead to big results. This is exactly what happened when we helped collect bikes and provide technicians for their bike drive. Over 400 bikes, and helmets were donated to the Bikes and Badges event and fun was had by children and adults alike.

In June, Lindsey Tinsley from Byers Airport Subaru presented the Columbus Dog Connection the funds that they had raised from the 2019 Subaru Share The Love Event. Byers Airport Subaru was able to raise not only awareness but nearly $20,000 for this animal rescue and vaccine clinic. These funds will be used to rescue more animals, hold free or low cost spayed neuter clinic and vaccinate animals near Byers Airport Subaru.

On November 18th, 2020, Byers Airport Subaru Staff, collected and donated blankets to our local homeless veterans through the Subaru Loves to Help initiative. The donation made through the 3rd & Goal foundation to the Volunteers of America Ohio shelter that serves only homeless veterans and couldn't come at a better time because the shelter is currently at capacity. Due to Covid, our team was unable to enter the shelter this year but we are eagerly waiting to go back.

We are fortunate to have a such a caring corporate partner in Byers Airport Subaru. We had the opportunity to use our close physical proximity with their dealership to offer low-cost spay/neuter to dogs and cats in our part of Columbus. We spayed/neutered 60 dogs and cats in our zip code thanks to the pet-loving people at Byers. We placed road signage out and quickly filled all spots to take advantage of this great opportunity. We've also done adoption days and Share The Love events and always have a great time with Lindsey and the entire staff. Columbus is lucky to have such a quality company selling great products and supporting our community.

Our partnership with Byers Airport Subaru means so much to us and the animals and people we serve. The dollars raised through the Share the Love event directly benefit homeless animals in the most critical need. The extra visibility this partnership brings to our mission means that our community better knows where to turn when they need help and when they are ready to adopt an amazing pet of their own. We are grateful for the support of the community champions at Byers Airport Subaru.

I am a 22 year old female who has been fighting Hodgkin's lymphoma for 4 years now. I am currently recovering, and have FINALLY received remission. So I wanted to thank Byers Airport Subaru for the beautiful comfortable new blanket that they were kind enough to give (I'm already using it by the way!) Thank you Subaru! I am considering buying a new car soon and would definitely consider buying a car through you guys. Thank you so very much.

On May 9th, 2015 Byers Airport Subaru teamed up with SAVE Ohio Pets for the first annual Ohio Fetch A Friend Adopt-a-thon. It was held at the Ohio Expo Center. Over 50 rescues/shelters were in attendance and over 100 rescues/shelters/animal welfare and vendors in attendance. We were also joined by several animal advocate groups, dog trainers, groomers and healthy alternative food providers. Over 120 animals were adopted that day.
Did Byers Airport Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
